THE CHRISTIAN'S ASSURANCE Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Authorized Version I. INTRODUCTION How many of God's children have, through the centuries, drawn strength and comfort from this blessed verse? In the midst of trials, perplexities, and persecutions, this has been a rock beneath their feet. II. "All things work together." A. Only God can make things work together. With all the evil and all the creatures and all the possible events that can occur, God can make things work together. B. All things not only operate, they co-operate; they all act in perfect concer…

Settled Salvation What is the determining factor in salvation? Exactly what does a person have to do to be saved? The Bible doesn’t leave us in the dark. The answer is found in the Word of God. In Acts 16:30 and 31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” The jailer was asking, “What one thing is absolutely necessary for my salvation?” and the Bible answer was, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” In John 3:36, Jesus divides the world into two groups: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not on the Son shall not see life; b…

Letting the Pentecostal Winds Blow Acts 2 Jesus promised to give us power: “You will receive power.” Jesus promised to give us power for a purpose: “You will be my witnesses.” Jesus told us to wait patiently for His power: “But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49; cf. Acts 1:8). That power came on Pentecost: “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spi…

I Believe . . . Triune God That there is one god, infinitely great and good, the creator and sustainer of all things visible and invisible; the one true source of light and life, who has life in Himself and lives eternally in glorious light and sovereign love in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14). Co-equal in nature, majesty and glory. Everything God does in creating, sustaining, judging, and redeeming the world reflects who God is, the One whose perfections, including love, holiness, knowledge, wisdom, power, and righteousness, have been revealed in history of salvation. God has freely purposed from before the foundation of the world t…

26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, v.27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.[1] v.28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses.[2] v.29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, and unholy thing,[3] and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? v.30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith…

Over the course of time, I have often heard it preached and taught that “once saved, always saved” is nothing more than a lie from the Devil. That should a Christian backslide or sin without repentance; hell will be his everlasting home. The problem with that is it is not what Scripture teaches, nor is it what the Apostle Paul preached. Let’s see what the Bible has to say about it. After all, we’re suppose to “study to shew ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) The Scriptures were written primarily to teach doctrine. This is apparent from 2 Timothy 3:16 which says, “All scripture is given …

Does The Word of God Have Discrepancies? By Mike Ruff Voice of Victory, September 2000 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (II Peter 1:20) The answer to the question, “Does the Word of God have discrepancies?” is NO! Since I have no trouble believing this, and most born again Christians, including my denomination (the Assemblies of God) believe this, the Word of God really does not need the likes of me defending it integrity. I do not claim here to defend it but just point out some important facts f…

A brief study on how demons affect us, and how to achieve deliverance. “…Commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” – 2 Timothy 2:2 ____________________________________________ Criticism of the ministry of casting out demons has more than a theological basis. Just as many of the differences dividing church denominations which appear to be doctrinal may, in fact, be sociological or even economic, so objections to the deliverance ministry which hide behind the facade of doctrine may actually stem from fear, prejudice, ignorance, or simply from man’s critical nature. It is important that we recognize and admit this. In Mark 16:17. Jesus says, “An…

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS Intro: We are living in a day when the message of the church is changing. Churches, and even whole denominations, are moving away from the old message of salvation through the blood of Jesus, and are moving toward a message of salvation through social activism and good works. The old bloody message of the cross is quickly being replaced by a bloodless message that lacks power and that lacks…
